Second Meeting of
Delta Sigma Omicron
Tuesday, September 24, 2002
Room LB Room 424

President:
Jorge Acevedo

David Fell and Jorge Acevedo attended the meeting of all the clubs on Thursday, September 19, 2002. The chair person informed the clubs what is expected of them.

A.  Jorge has acquired desk 14 from the Student Council. This is different from the original desk, it is easier to see and has more frontage to display
our club when you walk through the door.
B.  October Fest is to be held on October 15, 2002. This event is for club fund raising. We are allowed to sell items or have games. We could have a booth for information about our club.
C.  SC 210 will have forms on Monday for any clubs that wish to participate in the fund raising.
D.  Student News Letter this is added to the Student Newspaper when published. Clubs may submit an article for publication. Deadline has not been discussed at this time.
E.  Club Days which were being displayed during this meeting. This is a good way to invite new members to join our club.
    a.  Must have at least one representative at the table at all times.
    b.  The tables will be given to each club on first come first serve bases.
    c.  However, our club was allowed to be the only club with a table reserved with a tent over it. This privilege was given to our club because of people's disabilities.
    d.  This gives us equality with the other clubs, but not favoritism.
F.  Saturday, October 5, 2002 will be a retreat that consist of a four to eight hour workshop. The retreat is to get together to know each other and build
a good leadership and share knowledge of club organization.
    a.  Lunch and drinks will be included.
    b.  No cost to the participants.
    c.  No location is set as of to date, but Birdugo Park was suggested.
G.  The meeting was adjourned for open house.

There was a discussion on the floor about what our club wants to do on October 15, 2002 which is due on Monday, September 30, 2002
It was agreed that the club is just starting, and we should not take on the job of selling food at this time.
David said that we could do something with the school barbecue, but he does not know if we have a strong enough club team to support to sell of food at this time. He suggested that for our first fund raiser, we should keep it simple with a booth with a game. Tee Bracy seconded the game idea.
David donated twenty dollars, and Tee donated ten dollars to our funds that we have for our club.
David, Jorge, and Tee came up with the idea of shooting balls in a basketball hoop. Tee suggested that the students on campus be blind folded so they could experience how a person feels without sight. Jorge suggested that maybe a person could sit in a chair to feel how a wheel chair person plays a game of basketball.
It was voted on that we have the booth with the basketball game. It was unanimous.
David checked into the In and Out Burger Truck, and it just was not feasible. What we want out of this club is team work and to have fun and doing some good things around campus!!
It was voted on and it was unanimous that we have the basketball game for the fund raiser.
Tee agreed to type the form, and meet Jorge to turn it into the Students' Center.
On October 15, 2002, we need to start setting up the booth from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
We discussed to have a topic each month for the newspaper. Tee thought maybe we could write an appreciation of the other students on how they are assisting the disabled people on campus.
David adjourned the meeting at 12:51 p.m.
